Jose Rizal Was Jack the Ripper free essay sample
And every famous is controversial. An article from the Philippine Daily Inquirer records some Philippine urban legends: the White Lady of Balete Drive, Robina Gokongweis snake twin lurking in department store dressing rooms, the elusive kapre that lives in an ancient mango tree near the Emilio Aguinaldo house in Kawit town, and Andres Bonifacios love child from a place aptly named Libog (now Santo Domingo) in Albay province. None of those mean much to me. But most of the article is devoted to discussing two other Philippine legends that are of more general interest. The first one is that Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines, Jack the Ripper? The name Jack the Ripper is the best-known name given to an unidentified serial killer who was active in the largely impoverished areas in and around the Whitechapel district of London in 1888. The name originated in a letter, written by someone claiming to be the murderer, that was disseminated in the media. We will write a custom essay sample on Jose Rizal Was Jack the Ripper? or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The letter is widely believed to have been a hoax, and may have been written by a journalist in a deliberate attempt to heighten interest in the story. Other nicknames used for the killer at the time were The Whitechapel Murderer and Leather Apron. Jack the Ripper has become the most infamous in the annals of murder. Yet, the amazing fact is that his identity remains unproven today. In the years 1888-1891 the name was regarded with terror by the residents of Londons East End, and was known the world over. So shrouded in myth and mystery is this story that the facts are hard to identify at this remove in time. And it was the officers of Scotland Yard to whom the task of apprehending the fearsome killer was entrusted. Rizal was in London from May 1888 to January 1889, in the British Library copying Sucesos de las islas Filipinas by hand because there were no photocopying machines at the time. Jack the Ripper was active around this time, and since we do not know what Rizal did at night or on the days he was not in the library, some people would like to believe Rizal is suspect. They argue that when Rizal left London, the Ripper murders stopped. They say that Jack the Ripper must have had some medical training, based on the way his victims were mutilated. Rizal, of course, was a doctor. Jack the Ripper liked women, and so did our own Rizal. And this is so obvious that many overlooked it Jose Rizals initials match those of Jack the Ripper! If Jack the Ripper did turn out to be Filipino, that would throw a wrench in his status as the Most Evil Brit of all time. And any of you people out there actually believe this? Just because Rizal was in London at around the same time, liked women (although to be more exact women liked him, he was not a womanizer; the women were the ones who chased him) was a doctor, often worked late hours alone, was a Freemason, and most ludicrously had matching initials would prove he is Jack the Ripper? Id like you to tell me if there is a single court in the world that would convict a person solely on that kind of circumstantial evidence. Given these, the conspiracy theory goes, Rizal could very well have been Jack the Ripper. Having been in London within the time frame of the murders, he had the opportunity to commit the crimes (ââ¬Å"We do not know what Rizal did at night or on the days he was not in the library,â⬠museumofhoaxes. com points out). Moreover, he had the means. Just like the anonymous killer, Rizal had medical knowledge he was a doctor, after all. And his motive? Jack the Ripper liked women,â⬠says museumofhoaxes. com. ââ¬Å"So did Rizal. â⬠Who else could the murderous ââ¬Å"J. R. â⬠have been but Jose Rizal himself? I really think Jack the Ripper was Jose Rizal. Imagine this the killing stopped when Rizal left London. And according to some witness who saw him he was about 5ââ¬â¢3â⬠to 5ââ¬â¢5â⬠in height. And looks foreign, in addition to that Jose Rizal known as a playboy he really likes women. If I am not mistaken Rizalââ¬â¢s family has a history of psychosis or similar to this kind of disorder. I am still researcher for clues because I really want to find the answer to this mistery. Jose Rizal was a Freemason and so was Jack the Ripper. They said that the killings are like of the freemasons rituals. Maybe heââ¬â¢s to great at everything he wanted to try something different like killing prostitutes, and maybe he despise hores because of heââ¬â¢s hero nature, great minds can do anything their mind thinks. Some blogs online even claim that Jose Rizal was the infamous Jack the Ripper, not only just because of their similar initials but he apparently lived in London the same time the Ripper killings were happening (1888-1889). Jose Rizal was a fan of the female species and evidently so was Jack the Ripper as seen by his usual targets for murder. Seems as though Rizal had a lot in common with Jack the Ripper down to his facial hair (both had dark moustaches). Yet there is not enough evidence to prove these claims true and why would you want to tarnish the name of our great hero? You can read more about this and judge for yourself here: http://www. joenelumal. com/more/news/jose-rizal-was-jack-the-ripper/index. tml Jack the Ripper was one of the most deadliest Serial Killer in Europe, and Jose Rizal is proclaimed as National Hero of the Philippines, so I conclude that thereââ¬â¢s no relationship between Jose Rizal and Jack the Ripper other than their initial which is ââ¬Å"J. R. â⬠. Never heard any thing between these two opposite personalities until today.. I was looking I noticed ââ¬Å"Serial Killer in Rizalâ⬠. Okay, Iââ¬â¢m in the Philippines and thereââ¬â¢s no issues/news on a serial killer on the loose, so I googled up and found this. But most of the article is devoted to discussing two other Philippine legends that are of more general interest. The first one is that Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines. One is that Jose Rizal was also Jack the Ripper: Now this is gettinââ¬â¢ interesting.. We all know that Jose Rizal had been to London and who knows? It could be posssible.. The article lead me to do some research and I found this.. Does anyone else know that this case has not been solved? UNSOLVED! Everything is a speculation at this point. We cannot interrogate the suspects to find the ââ¬Å"truth. â⬠Anyways, hereââ¬â¢s some investigative work done by AmateurSleuth of the casebook forum(forum. casebook. org)â⬠¦ In 1888, he was staying with the Beckett family at 37 Chalcot Crescent in Camden He was a doctor(opthalmologist) He was good with weapons(was called ââ¬Å"the swordsmanâ⬠) He was a Malay He was proficient in the martial arts He would have been 27 at the time of the Ripper killings He also took up fencing and was quite good He was short, had dark skin, dark hair, and dark eyes He came from a well to do family, was well dressed and looked respectable He came to London on May 24, 1888 on the ship City Of Rome He left London in January of 1889, and the Ripper killings stopped He was multi-talented(could speak many languages, was a writer, poet, author, sculptor, artist) He was executed in the Philippines on December 30, 1896 at the age of 35 Had a romantic relationship with Gertrude B eckett ââ¬â the daughter of Charles Beckett He wrote letters to his friend Blumentritt from London, however there were no letters written to his family or friends from July 1888 ââ¬â November 14, 1888 He was working at the British Library at the time After he died, his mother tried to procure his assets which consisted of some pretty nice jewelery including gold cuff links and other baubles of diamonds and amethysts(gold chain with a red stone seal? ) upon further investigationâ⬠¦this information was foundâ⬠¦similarities noting the fââ¬â¢s http://www. univie. ac. at/Voelkerkunde/apsis/aufi/rizal/rizal10. jpg http://www. univie. ac. at/Voelkerkunde/apsis/aufi/rizal/rizal13. pg I also found this we know that Rizal has a diary and everything he was experienced is written in his diary Rizal and his diary: January 1986, St. Pancras, London While up in the attic putting away boxes of Christmas ornaments, the present-day owners of #37 Chalcot Crescent stumble across a dusty old trunk, which (once the lock is pried open) reveals some /very interesting/ items once belonging to Dr. Jose Rizal. In particular, a diary wherein he confesses to the Whitechapel murders; and a glass jar with half a human kidney preserved in alcohol. Unlike the embarassing ââ¬Å"Hitler Diariesâ⬠hoax a few years before,/this/ seems to be genuine. The ink, paper, etc. are from 1888. The handwriting matches Dr. Rizalââ¬â¢s.
